GrabOn currently has its functionality on Web Mobile. GrabOn would want to create an app to get more traffic and outreach. Since GrabOn is already getting good numbers through mobile web, what would be those set of unique features and UI/UX of the platform, that would drive better results on the app.

User pain points while using m-web

  • Browsing User Pain
  • Do not work offline
  • Slower than mobile apps, and less advanced in terms of features
  • May not be as discoverable as mobile apps as they are not listed in a specific database, such as the app store
  • Accessibility: When the user switches between tabs and scrolls down in any of the sections the header vanishes and the user has to go all the way up again in whichever section he/she is and then switch to next section.

Mobile apps benefit

  • User friendly
  • Offline support to mobile
  • One Tap solution
  • Better UI & UX experience
  • Faster than web apps
  • Greater functionality as they have access to system resources
  • Can work offline
  • Safe and secure — native apps must first be approved by the app store
  • Easier to build due to the availability of developer tools, interface elements, and SDKs

Research

  • The largest demographic making up 49.5% of all online shoppers using coupons are aged between 25–34 years in India, which is higher than any of the countries mentioned above.
  • Cuponation, an online deals discovery platform, conducted a survey which found that in India 61.8% coupon users are male while the remaining 38.2% are female.
  • Indians shop online at the workplace and a metric that suggests this is true is the favourite time people spend looking for coupons. 1 PM to 3PM is the most popular time when it comes to looking for online deals and coupons in India.

Where we can engage the user every day through the Referral promos & Rewards program

Referral promos

People are much more likely to purchase from you if referred by a friend or family member. Use this to your advantage and leverage offers to encourage referrals. You can choose to give a deal to the person referring, the person being referred, or both.

Example: Meal-delivery brands like Swiggy and Zomato are well known for their referral marketing. Every so often, customers are gifted promo codes to share with friends and family, who can then redeem their first box for free or at a steeply discounted price. For every friend who redeems, the referrer often gets a free or discounted box, too.

Rewards Are Powerful

You’ve most likely downloaded a new app for your phone, only to delete it a few days later or never open it again. You may have also caught yourself scrolling through your Instagram feed for hours at a time, with no real reason. It’s clear that certain digital products know how to ingrain themselves in our daily routines while others cannot seem to get more than one or two uses.
Only the most powerful apps are used daily. Others are deleted or forgotten about entirely.
The most popular apps use reward systems to increase retention, engagement and organic sharing amongst its users.

  • USER REVIEWS

The GrabOn app held an average rating of 4.3 stars. I identified potential trends from users reviews which have not highlighted relevant issues about usability or functionalities and tried to catch what exactly the users were unhappy with. The pool of mixed feedbacks trumped with good reviews about their offers and coupons.
