Introduction
Acme Corporation provides training content to their customers as a B2B
learning product. The administrators of the system find out and preview
the trainings and create learning assignments for the trainings. Lately,
Acme corporation has found that administrators are creating less and
less assignments. the application engagement is falling.
On deeper
analysis acme corp’s CEO found that administrators find it extremely
frustrating to find the exact training
that they want their employees to
complete.

Role
My role includes conducting business competitor analysis, gathering data on user experience, and contributing to the design process.

Based on the above information answer the following:

Research

How will you identify the problem statement?

Define the Problem based on the information provided, the problem seems to be a decrease in engagement with the training content, specifically in the form of fewer assignments being created by administrators. However, this could be a symptom of a deeper issue, such as difficulty in finding relevant training content.

  1. Collect Data: Useing Mixpanel or other analytics tools to collect data on the relevant metrics, such as Training Assignment Creation Rate, Training Content Preview Rate, and Training Search and Filter Usage.
  2. Analyze the Data: Analyze the data to identify trends and patterns. Look for any significant decreases or anomalies in the metrics that could indicate a problem.
  3. Hypothesize Possible Causes: Based on the data analysis, hypothesize possible causes for the decrease in engagement.
  4. Validate the Hypotheses: Validate hypotheses by conducting user interviews, surveys, or usability tests with administrators. Gather feedback on their experience with the training content management system and identify any pain points or areas for improvement.

Describe the process you will use to validate your understanding of the problem.

I will perform the following steps or processes before making any decision.

  1. User Interviews
  2. Surveys
  3. Usability Testing
  4. Feedback Review
  5. Prototype Testing
  6. Stakeholder Review

Iterative Improvement Based on the feedback gathered, refine understanding of the problem and iterate on proposed solutions. Continue to test and gather feedback until you are confident that the proposed changes will effectively address the underlying issues.

Assume that you have interviews with the following people. Create an extensive interview questionnaire for each person that you will ask in the 1:1

Based on my experience and assumptions, I will ask the following questions to the users:

Interview Questionnaire for Chris Haris

Cybersecurity Awareness Training Administrator

  1. Can you describe your role and responsibilities as a Cybersecurity Awareness Training Administrator?
  2. How often do you create new training assignments for employees?
  3. What tools or systems do you use to manage and assign cybersecurity training content?
  4. Can you walk me through the process of finding and selecting training content for employees?
  5. Have you noticed any challenges or difficulties in finding the right training content? If so, can you describe them?
  6. How do you ensure that the training content you select is relevant and engaging for employees?
  7. What improvements or changes would you suggest to make the process of creating and assigning training content easier and more efficient?

Interview Questionnaire for Dylan Mink

Human Resources, Learning and Development Manager

  1. Can you describe your role and responsibilities as the Learning and Development Manager?
  2. How important is training for your organization, and how do you ensure that employees participate in and complete the training?
  3. How do you measure the effectiveness of training in your organization?
  4. What challenges do you face in ensuring that employees have access to relevant and engaging training content?
  5. How do you collaborate with team to identify and address training needs?
  6. What improvements or changes would you like to see in the current process of managing and assigning training content?

Based on secondary research define — personas for the above problem statement

The following personas are based on my experience and assumptions

I am assuming these personas represent the key stakeholders involved in the problem statement and provide insights into their goals, challenges, and responsibilities related to cybersecurity awareness training at Acme Corporation

What are the metrics you will track in Mixpanel to understand the problem, give a brief explanation of the graphs that you will create to validate your problem understanding?

I will review the following data before creating the low-fidelity designs and present it to the stakeholders

  • Line graph showing the trend of Training Assignment Creation Rate over time.
  • Bar chart comparing the Training Content Preview Rate before and after a UI/UX update.
  • Heatmap displaying the most frequently used search and filter options in the training content library.
  • Funnel analysis to visualize the stages of assignment creation and identify drop-off points.

By tracking these metrics and analyzing the data, I can gain insights into the challenges administrators are facing and make informed decisions to improve the user experience of the training content management system.

Based on the above design a lo-fi design:for the training listing page

I am following UX methods to gather the right metrics, aiming to simplify the process and make it easy to assign training to employees. Employees can also grow by completing assignment or trainings.

What are the data fields that you will track associated with each training

Based on my experience, I will keep in mind the following data fields to track for each training

  1. Training Name: The name or title of the training module.
  2. Training Description: A brief description of the training content.
  3. Category/Tag: The category or tags assigned to the training for easy classification and filtering.
  4. Duration: The estimated duration of the training.
  5. Completion Rate: The percentage of users who complete the training after it is assigned to them.
  6. Views: The number of times the training preview is viewed by administrators.
  7. Feedback/Ratings: Any feedback or ratings provided by administrators or employees after completing the training.
  8. Engagement Metrics: Metrics such as click-through rates, time spent on training pages, and interaction with training elements (quizzes, videos, etc.).
  9. Search Queries: The search queries used by administrators to find the training.
  10. Date Last Updated: The date when the training module was last updated.

Design Process

After I gather all the data I needed, it was time to start the design process. My methodology for the design process included the following:

  • Initial sketches of wireframes
  • Design low-fidelity wireframes
  • Conduct usability testing of prototype
  • Incorporate style guide to design hi-fidelity mockups

In this case we chose to use Design Thinking as our design process approach because it fits the nature of UX/UI development.
